A General Overview
Very little happened, Christmas is clearly a major attention hog for the whole family, but we’ve been sick most of the holidays (as usual I’d say), so it’s not like we did something worth writing about…

TR is decreasing (vs. previous month) – Ups and downs, this time is a major down…
YTER is decreasing (vs. previous month) – 1bps, every little counts!
Net Yearly YoC is better (vs. previous month) – 11bps, that’s a whopper, options played a major role here…
Forex is worse (vs. previous month) – Still positive, bus very close to parity…
Dividends and Options
Income this month was 4714 Euro
Dividends accounted for 1373 Euro (-37% vs 2021) and Options ended up with a 3341 Euro score (+877% vs 2021).
Dividends
Massive drop to close the year, but 2021 saw a lot of special dividends…
Options
Finally closing some old, long rolled positions, this opened up a lot of “paper gains”, but still gains to be had…
DCA/Increased Positions
Sold 100 WBD @ 9.40 USD
Year end wash sales fodder. Shit spinoff from AT&T, glad to see it go.
Bought 50 BNH @ 15.40 USD
Adding on weakness, reaching the limit of the portfolio dedicated to these instruments.
Sold 100 BIP @ 30.91 USD
Very sad to let this stock go, but American regulations changed and basically it was really anti-economical to keep it in the portfolio. Just hope they don’t decide to do similar actions with other stocks too…
New Positions – Sold Position
Nothing to report
Financial Conclusions
December saw a little bit of a pullback, year end sales probably, but it looked like we were on the descending phase again. At the time of writing (mid January) it’s clear that the markets are going the opposite way, but in December that wasn’t so clear.
Fiscally, I had to buy and sell a bunch of stocks to wash out some gains, actually quite a lot of gains. I am not a fan of selling at a loss, but there is little point in paying taxes when I have positions that I want to close. Wash sales effectively allow me to re-enter on a position at much lower prices, or to let go some dead stocks to raise cash, both of which are good outcomes.
My expectations for 2023 are going to be discussed in the year end post, as for December I can only say that I was expecting a much steeper movement down, which in the end did not materialize.
